Bookworm: How to find the resources you need

Updated: Sep 8, 2022

As an adult, you likely have many responsibilities that take up most of your time. Whether you are working full-time, taking care of your family, or both, it can be difficult to find the time to learn something new. However, learning English can be extremely beneficial for your career, your personal life, and your future. So how can you find the resources you need to learn English? Here are a few tips:

Library Resources: One of the best places to start is your local library. Libraries are full of books, of course, but they also have staff members who are trained to help you find the resources you need. They can recommend books, magazines, websites, and even classes that will help you improve your reading skills. And best of all, most library services are free!

If you're not sure where to start, try asking a librarian for recommendations. They'll be more than happy to point you in the right direction. For example, if you're interested in learning more about a particular topic, they can recommend books or articles that will give you a good overview. If you're looking for something more challenging, they can suggest books that will help you expand your vocabulary and develop your reading fluency. And if you're just looking for something fun to read, they can help you find books that match your interests.

Another great resource is local bookstores. Many bookstores have staff members who are passionate about reading and can offer recommendations based on your interests. In addition, most bookstores have a section devoted to educational resources, which can be a great place to find materials that will help you improve your reading skills.

Finally, don't forget about online resources! There are tons of websites devoted to helping people improve their reading skills. Some of my favorites include Reading Rockets and The Reading Zone. These sites offer advice from experts, booklists, activities, and more. They're a great way to get started if you're not sure where to begin.

There are lots of great resources available to help you improve your reading skills. By taking advantage of what's available at your local library, bookstore, and online, you'll be well on your way to becoming a proficient reader in no time!

Learning English as an adult can be difficult, but it is definitely possible with some effort and perseverance. With so many great resources available, there is no excuse not to give it a try!
